Gettysburg Garden Club General Meeting Minutes March 23, 2017
Secretary’s Report: Accepted for posting on website.
Treasurer’s Report: Carol Heiser reported YTD balance is $17,318.41 with report for February to be filed for audit. Carol noted the Club will be purchasing its own projector.
Corresponding Secretary: Connie reported for Grace on cards sent and received.
DTFP – Carol reported on progress to date in funding for watering. A Memorandum of Understanding needs to be in place among all involved parties. (Recent publicity contained incorrect information about the planting of the baskets and planters.) Karen Szoke and Carol will be meeting with Carrie Stewart. Connie Farabaugh noted the Chamber is not a 501C(3) entity should they be the one who collects DTFP funds.
Membership: Regina introduced new member Joan Horak.
Program: Next month April 27, program is by George Weigel on Edibles in Your Garden. Guests are welcome for a donation. Connie will send other club presidents notice of the meeting.
Today’s program is by member Linda Spellman on Creating a Sense of Place in your garden.
Way & Means: Yard Sale is today. Spring workshops and plant sale are next. Sign up coming for workshops and the Sale.
Trips and Tours: Chris Stoken reported on trip to Twin Springs Greenhouses and Farm Market in Ortanna. Date is Monday, April 12, at 1 pm. Directions to issue in newsletter and email.
Hospitality: Thanks to Robin Bleckwehl, Pat Hinkle Chris Stoken and Linda Spellman for the delicious treats. Robin did the beautiful spring arrangement.
Unfinished Business:
April 6 is the next District IV meeting at York Country Club. Deadline to attend is March 30.
Trash to Treasure – Lynn Skopic and Cornelia Saltzman revealed their entry.
New Business: GGC is purchasing a projection system.
Convention: Terry Cabana will represent GGC at the convention.
Announcements:
- Terry Cabana is participating in Art in Bloom.
- PA Herb Festival at York Fairgrounds is April 7& 8.
- Linda Golembieski demonstrated making ribbon flowers and donated some for spring sale.
